Just wanted to introduce myself - My name is Stephen.  I am new to the SAHD routine and new to these forums.  My wife and I have a four month old son, Archer, and live in the Ukrainian Village of Chicago.  In my previous life I worked in college/university administration, and currently I help teach a course on that subject at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.  I'm a huge music geek, a home brewer, and sports fan.  Really looking forward to becoming part of this community and meeting up with those of you local to Chicago.

Just joined this and even though I haven't worked for more than a year I have just become a full time SAHD (hate that term) as my wife is now working as a consultant.  We have a wonderous 17 month old daughter called Molly and moved to Chicago last September.  Molly was born in our living room in a tub with just a midwife at hand in Brooklyn, NYC.  Since then it's been a whirlwind of sling wearing, co-sleeping and trips to the parks.  Can a child ever get enough of slides and swings!!

I live in Naperville. Once the fall starts I will probably be rejoining a weekly playgroup in my neighborhood of 8 other moms once a week. Are there any dads that would want to meet in the Naperville area? I always feel like the women wish I wasnt there and that they would be talking about other things if I didn't show up. Thanks!

You have to excuse my post but I have been researching for answers on other boards and thought I should just ask the experts.

Currently, my husband and I are grasping straws trying to figure out what is best for our 5 month old son. I'm trying to avoid a divorce but money and attitude are pushing me in that direction.

Okay, picture this. A relatively quiet park with count em! 3 dads and their kids playing and getting together to chat. There's a Mom (other team) there as well with her little boy. In between front A (the dads) and B (the mom) lies 2 sippy cups and a bag of goldfish.

Absurdly silly - but keep watching it right to the end - it'll be worth it!

Hi guys - as a relatively new immigrant here I'm finding the subject of TV service providers a little tricky to decipher (nothing like the four channels I'm used, BBC1, BBC2, BBC3 and BBC4!!).

playgroups (sports, arts, music, swimming, beach trips, museums, etc..)

Lincoln Square Playgroup and Play Dates (for children born @ summer 2008)

My daugher Azadeh was born in June of 2008.

We seek age-appropriate play dates or play groups.

We live in Lincoln Square (60625) near Winnemac Park (west of Damen, east of Western, north of Lawrence, and south of Foster).

There's a fantastic playground in Winnemac Park that we can meet in when the weather is nice. Otherwise, we're happy to host.

Hey all.

So we're taking the little guy on his first plane ride this thursday and we're planning on calling a taxi to get us to the airport. We were going to bring our car seat and hook it up in the taxi.

Why am I telling you this you ask?

Because I'd love to hear from anybody who has done this who might know some way to make things easier. I'd also like to know if anyone has a recommendation for a reputable cab company.
