Since I have not been the nicest person on some of the threads, I would like to apologize to all I have offended and try to bury the hatchet with a lighter thread...I will start with my top 5:

Caddyshack
Top Gun
Live and Let Die
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Monty Python and The Holy Grail

boy, that was tougher than I thought....Maybe it should be the top 10.....

oh well, let's see what everyone likes.....so i can rip their choices apart, and tell them how dumb the choices are and.........just kidding, i have turned over a new leaf and i will only respond to posts if i can do so without a personal attack against the writer....again I apologize to all I have pissed off or offended lately.

Top Picks lately

One of the few still with regular 5 channels of TV, but upgrading soon to 100 channels plus. Whoa!

In no particular order
Royal Tenenbaums
High Fidelity
Office Space
Fargo
Welcome to the Doll House
Pecker
Super Bad
Old School
Where the Buffalo Roam

And TickTock the joust scene in Quick Change is one of my favorite scenes in any movie I am laughing thinking about it...when Quaid says "Its gotta be bad luck just seeing a thing like that" I loose it every time.

Movies > Politics

I for one will certainly be glad when election season is over and we can all get back to acting slightly more sane and focusing on important stuff we actually have some influence over. The months before a presidential election are the opposite of the mythical change that occurs in people prior to Christmas (except for the mall fights over toys, of course).

Movies, in chronological order

Stalag 17 (1953)
The Big Country (1958)
Pulp Fiction (1994)
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
Sideways (2004)

See how I limited it to 5 like the man asked? There are others of course, but surfing upon these will result in immediate couch potato transformation until the closing credits.

Cohen's

I did a little work on "Hudsucker" and "Big Libowski."
They are just normal guys, approchable and quite. They have a tight group they worked with at the time. I think sometimes how I used to take the subway with Joel and Ethan. (sigh) and I din't take advantage of it. Eh, wathca'ya gonna do.

Be Seeing You.

And the greatest comedy nobody's ever seen.....

The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human

Gonna be super hard to find but the funniest thing in a long time. Narrated by David Hyde Pierce, also known as Niles on the Frasier tv show. done as a comedic mockumentary of aliens from space studying humans and our mating habits/rituals as we study animals in the wild. Every sexual innuendo you can imagine and featuring Carmen Electra as if you needed a better reason. Ron Jeremy has a bit part in it to and it is LMAO funny. My friend borrowed my only copy years ago and I won't give it back. You can buy them on Amazon for like $10 if you want.

Just be sure the kids aren't around, because it is a grown-up movie for sure. Hilarious, but not for kids.

Making it look difficult. Living the dream.

My Top 5 (& Great Idea on the Thread Topic, BTW)

The Outlaw Josey Wales
Things To Do In Denver When Your Dead
Monty Python & the Holy Grail
Saving Private Ryan
Shawshank Redemption

Lots of death and a bit of silliness. Sounds like a good time to me!

Not far behind....
Ocean's 11
Snatch
Kung Fu Panda (Yes, really!)
Heartbreak Ridge
Braveheart (Despite the editing gaffs in two of the battle scenes)

Making it look difficult. Living the dream.

The worst remakes, and clones

Sorry for the interruption but:

The worst remakes and clones that I have seen in the last years:

1. Ocean 11 (original: The Itallian Job)
2. Vainillia Sky (original: Abre los Ojos -Open your Eyes)
3. Ocean 12 (original: 9 Reinas - Nine Queens)

And just the ones I would ask a refund

1. National treasure (both)
2. The Mommy
3. Kunfu Panda
4. Happy Feet
5. Casino Royale

But if you want good movies, I recommend: (hope you don't have a problemwith foreigner film)

1. Antonia's Line
2. Run Lola, Run
3. Karakter
4. Nine Queens
5. Once
6. The Edukators
7. Good Bye Lenin
8. The Idiots
9. Ladri di biciclette
10. Children of Heaven
11. Kiss of the Dragon (just cause is funny)

Isn't the Ocean's 11(2001)

Isn't the Ocean's 11(2001) original Ocean's 11(1960)?

As well as The Italian Job(2003) being a remake of the 1969 version. Either way, in both cases Ocean's 11 came before The Italian Job.

For the record, I prefer the 60's version of each to the remakes.
