alan68's post on the absolutely fascinating jobs thread got me thinking about presents for the insanity that's only ~four months around the corner. My kid will barely be one; so, I'm not worried about her, though I imagine that's challenging! But.. there's also everyone else on the planet to think about.
So, what presents rock, cost next to nothing, and ideally are somehow fun, productive, or at least non-exclusive with the kid(s)?
Here's my contribution:

My parents go by "babie" and "zadie" to her (pet forms of baba and zada, yiddish for grandmother and grandfather) and my mother-in-law goes by "mormor" (Swedish for grandmother). We made a separate one for her remaining two grandparents. (My wife had something like eight grandparents at her peak.)
Too cheap to buy extra sets of letters if some have been lost/eaten? So were we. M is W upside down.
Cheers,
Steve
