Star Wars Pirates?

Ok, I saw the original Star Wars in the theater, and I think I saw the Empire Strikes Back, but that is kind of where it stopped for me. I was "too cool" for it later. However, I truly appreciate the people who live their lives for it now.

Anyway, my 5yo is starting to get into it. I was a little perplexed by Star Wars Transformers, but I went with it. Then, I took him to see the new animated clone movie. That was really strange too, but he loved it, so it's all good.

Today, he asked me if there were any pirates in Star Wars. Can anyone help me out here? I just don't know enough about all the movies and books to answer his question properly.

Yeah, Han Solo is the closest thing to a pirate. In fact, Lando says something like, "Come here, you ol' pirate!"

I would call Jabba more of a mob boss.

Thanks for the info everyone. I might be able to convince my son that Hans and Chewie are friendly pirates.

However, I am blown away by the existence of Wookiepedia! Who in the world has that kind of time? As a follow-up question: Were all of the characters mentioned in the wookiepedia entry from a book series or something?

Not canon

Strictly speaking, the pirates mentioned are not canon. Wookipedia is everything Phil. Books, comics, the Star Wars Holiday Special. I had a hand in it way back in the day.
