Am I Considered a SAHD?

Was just curious as to whether or not I am technically a SAHD. I do work 3 days a week for 12 hours. I work Sat, Sun, and Mon, from 5pm to 530am, but the other four days during the week I am home with my boys while my wife works. Would I be considered a SAHD or just a dad who takes care of the kids on his days off?

I could ask

Are you the main caregiver to your children?

But it would be better to ask, do you want to be a SAHD, or would you rather not be a SAHD? Seems to me that working nearly 40 hours, you could go either way. Be confident, reject labels (unless your doing laundry).

Sure, why not?

For the sake of good conversation we'll let you stick around ;-)

You sound like a SAHD to me since you spend quite a bit of time taking care of the kids. I still work, but I do so from home on the weekends with my daughter in the same room; so I'm not quite as efficient as I was int he office.

Welcome

It's not like there's a rulebook here. Does your wife consider you a SAHD? That's the most important question to me. If the answer is yes... then there's your answer. Cuz we all know our wives are never wrong.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... sorry, I couldn't even keep a straight face while typing that!! But if she thinks you're one, then I'd say yes. I can imagine there's a lot of guys out there lying and saying they're SAHD. I know if I wasn't, I would want to take credit for having the greatest job in the world. Welcome SAHD.

I am home the majority of

I am home the majority of the time and the kids are never gone to daycare, so I guess I would be considered a SAHD. I enjoy being home with my kids even though there are times when I want to run outside and scream my head off. I guess that is just their job right at this age. I appreciate all the help you guys have given me in my past posts. Hopefully when we are done having kids things will get back to whatever kind of normalty I had with my wife. I would not give up my kids for the world though.

Your Choice

If you work 36 hours on the weekend and stay with your kids (boys no less) weekdays, you can call yourself whatever you want. Personally, I'd go with sleep-deprived.

I am a sahd and had been looking for a job like that when I was still with my wife. Now I am just screwed all around for work I have them at least 4 nights a week and 5 days plus every other weekend. I really have no idea what I am doing financially. I really do not want them in daycare

Sounds like Both

You could be considered a working Dad or a SAHD. Your choice, but sounds like you do both.
