Hey Guys,
While at the little playground in Dennis Mass last week I meet a lovely man with five kids. He was a local firefighter and had that confidence and calm that is usually synonymous with that job. One of his daughters fell and hurt her knee. Her father told his kids they needed to meet up at the truck so he could get his first aid kit and show the kids what to do.

I was suitably impressed. The notion of first aid hadn’t occurred to me – strangely enough after all my years backpacking I always put safety first – but I made a mental note that the diaper bag would need to change.

Just the other day my daughter fell and although I didn’t see it at the time she scrapped her elbow bad enough to bleed. Naturally, when we reached our destination, I had nothing. I cleaned it with some wipes and bandaged it when I got home.

I put my small day hiking first aid kit into my diaper bag. I added surgical scissors and After Bite.

I was wondering what y’all have any suggestions for adding onto my kit?

What to pack

Bourbon and bandaids. Either one takes care of most boo-boos.

As an alternative

I also bought one of those First Aid kits at a Sam's Club and I keep that in my car. I figure that any injury that goes beyond that should prob'ly be dealt with at a hospital.

Kit

I bought a bunch of little $1 first aid kits at Target in the section where they have the travel size items. It has a few bandaids of various sizes, sterile wipes and gauze patches. I keep them scattered around, such as in the car glove boxes, one in the diaper bag, some around the house for quick use.

But now that you mention it, I probably add a few items to my take-along bay kit, such as tweezers (in case of stings/splinters), an EpiPen (never know when somebody might be allergic to a bee sting and go into anaphylactic shock), and scissors.
