I am a die hard Green Bay Packer and Brett Favre fan. In light of the ongoing saga he and the Packers are going through, I am curious what others think.

Who do you think is at fault? Packers or Brett?
Would you want him on your team next year, knowing he might only play one year?

I personally blame both parties, but I also feel they should bring him back, even if it alienates Aaron Rodgers. I like Rodgers, but there is only one Favre.

Favre's a diva

I'm just so tired of the ongoing will he or want he stories every spring/summer. When he did retire I just knew that wouldn't be the end of it. I think Favre needs the attention. He likes being the center of these stories year after year. When he finally retired, people forgot about him. He's got to come back now. Got to get that attention.

I like Favre. I really liked him back when he was really good. But I don't see how the Packers can be expected to put up with this every year. It's ridiculous. They need to move on. If they bring him back, it will start again next spring regardless of how the year goes. It's a soap opera that just doesn't seem to have an end.

If Favre ends up with a new team, a new offense, new teammates, I think that might actually seal the deal. I don't see him thriving in new surroundings. He's done.

Just my opinion of course.

I don't think they should...

...even question about bringing him back. Sure! Do it! Put him on the team to school Aaron Rogers. Make Farve second string. He'd be one heck of a player/coach for Rogers if the Packers want to think about a future post-Farve.

I agree with Zigzag, he'd be around for a year and would be a distraction. It's time for the team to move on a rebuild. A new era. Either Farve fits in somewhere off the field if he wants, and he deserves (?) something there or cut him loose and let him do what he will. I'd bet the Bears would pick him up just to spite the Packers! (plus he'd be the BEST QB they've had in who knows how long!)

For a QB so great in his day, but who also holds the record in interceptions. (which would make him a perfect fit in Chicago!) Perhaps that's because he works out of the pocket so much and takes chances and many times scores on them. I always thought, as a Bears fan, now that Farve is gone, I can finally hate the the whole team! I'll always respect #4 and what he brought to the game.

I'll miss his whining about the weather in Chicago.

Brett at fault. No, I would

Brett at fault.

No, I would not want him on my team. There is no letter "I" in the word TEAM.

I had great respect for Brett before his diva moment. Unfortunately, his ego got the best of him. Too many of today's athletes think that they are bigger than the sport they play.

Brett made the decision to retire. That meant the Green Bay Packers had to make a decision for the future of the team by supporting Rodgers as their next starting quarterback.

And what about Rodgers? He has paid his dues and waited years for this opportunity. And know Brett wants to pull the rug from under him at a moment's notice? I don't think that is fair to Rodgers and the Packers.

If Brett really cared about football and his team, he'd return to the Packers as the back up quarterback to Rodgers. And help Rodgers be the best quarterback he can be. Brett should let Rodgers see if he can do the job. And if Rodgers doesn't then he can step in. That is what a "real" team player would do.

I think Brett has put himself in a very awkward and terrible situation. If he does go to another team, the expectations will be very high. Which will mean he WILL HAVE to win. What if Brett tanks and the team starts losing? I would think that his new fans will most certainly turn on him.

I hope Brett comes to his senses and has a change of heart and announces that he will return to the Packers as the back up quarterback to Rodgers.

Most of all I feel bad for the die hard Green Bay fans because Brett has put them in a position to chose between him or the Packers.

I'm rooting for the Packers this year! Somebody please mail me a "cheese head" hat!

can anyone say

Jordan...
sure he had a great late in the career season last year but he retired, and in his interview on FOX said he is not coming back as a back up. Would he coming back as a back up make Rodgers a better player. Hell Yes, but Farve won't do it. He retired and realized the money he lost and wants it. Where ever he goes he demands 12.5 mil. Who would take that for a year or two...maybe Miami but wouldn't it be great if he ended up as a Bear and won a S.B. It will never happen. Every time I see something regarding this on Sportcenter I feel bad for Farve but then I think about how the team wants to and needs to move on. If he said "I care about my legacy and the legacy of this team and I want to see it succeed and its success depends on my helping Rodgers mature into the QB we hope he can be" than good for Brett, but Brett does not want that. Brett enjoy retirement with all your bucks and if you want to come to the Jets and help us win a superbowl OK!

please go away...

i live near green bay and i am sick of seeing brett favre being the top story on the local news over someone being shot or something thats really serious. i remember last year the fire chief in a near by town was found burned to death in his car, but brett favre was the top story. i cant wait for him to disappear. he was a great player. he says that he doesnt do anything unless he is 100% committed to it. then why would he retire and go through the press conference if he was unsure about retiring. please go away brett. i like him as much as the next local guy (ok maybe not as much), but go take some prilosec, and wear your wranglers off into the sunset

Talk is the team offered him to the Vikings on Friday. He reports to Packer camp today.

So do you think he will start for the Pack or get traded to the Vikes?

Weird Stuff for sure

While I both think that both parties are to blame, I think the Packers shoulder most of the blame for this craziness. Favre is coming off one of his best years and he brought his team to the championship game earlier this year. While I have never seen him as one of the best QBs ever, despite his stats (longevity), he is certainly in the discussion. And the NFL is all about winning. Who do you think will win more games for the Pack? Rogers has never started a game in the NFL..... And B.Favre is a Hall of Famer who, while past his prime, is still MUCH better than an untested Rogers.
Talk about distractions - how are the Packers going to carry off a season with almost every fan is angrily chanting for Favre throughout the season.
At this point Favre seems too pissed to play in GB which is a shame. The Pack should have welcomed him back right away, now its too late. I can't wait to see this play out. As a Bronco fan I've seen how hard it is to replace a legend. GB has put itself in an impossible situation now. I do not see how their GM will ever work again in the NFL.
Weird stuff.

As a Bears Fan...

I celebrated the day he retired. He needs to go away, far away, from any team the Bears play (even though the Bears have had his number recently).

My wife asked me if I had signed up for the 401k yet. I told her I hadn't. She asked me why and I told her I couldn't run that far.

I guess...

i am a Farve fan now. Traded to the Jets. I must say I am happy for Rogers. I couldn't imagine what he was going through and he handled everything so well.

Brett Favre joke

I thought I'd share a joke I heard at my church about Brett Favre. My apologies if you've already heard it...

Brett Favre died and found himself standing at the Pearly Gates. Jesus came and held out his hand.
"Where am I?" Brett asked.
"Remember in the Bible when I promised to prepare a place for you?" replied Jesus. "Well, it's ready! Come, I'll take you there!"
So Jesus led Brett down the pearly gates to a huge, two-story mansion. It was painted green and yellow and had a big Packers G on the front gable. They went inside and saw a huge plasma TV with a blu-ray player and every episode of Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley. The fridge in the kitchen was fully stocked with every kind of cheese. Then they went into the backyard, where there was a huge swimming pool that could convert into an ice rink at the touch of a button.
After they came back into the front yard, Jesus asked, "So, what do you think?" Brett was about to rave enthusiatically and give profuse thanks, but then something caught his eye just across the street: an even bigger mansion. Three stories. This one was painted blue and silver and had a big blue star on the gable.
"Hey..." Brett began, "not to sound ungrateful, but why did Tony Romo get such a bigger house than I did?"
"That's not Tony Romo's house, " said Jesus. "That's mine! Go Cowboys!"

Sorry. A lot of Cowboys fans at my church. I don't even follow pro football myself. Thought it was cute though.

So why don't they call it mooching when the wife stays home?

Mixed feelings...

Living in Wisconsin, it's hard NOT to be a Packer fan. That's what I am first... and a Favre fan second. Until this week. After the comments he made about Green Bay when they never stooped to badmouthing, it really disappointed me. He said he came back for his fans, but then willingly went to the Jets. If he really did come back for his fans, then when it became obvious that he wasn't going to be a Packer, he should have went back into retirement. His fans are in Green Bay, and his priorities are elsewhere. I would rather have seen him GB than anywhere else, but that wouldn't have been fair to Rodgers. Obviously the fans wanted him back in GB. I was at the Packer Family Night last Sunday. It seemed more like a Brett Favre ralley than anything else. Everybody was screaming and chanting different slogans about bringing him back. But what really upset me, was when the scrimmage game started... nearly the entire stadium booed Rodgers when they introduced him. They always said that Green Bay has the greatest fans in the country... I seriously doubt that now.
