Hi Everyone,

My name is Dustin Kight. I work for Family Equality Council. We are a national organization working to ensure equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) families by community building, changing hearts and minds, and advancing social justice for all families.

We have two events coming up in Chicago at the LGBT Center on Halsted on July 20. I'm reaching out to local groups that might have members interested in attending our events.

The first event is an OUTSpoken Families training. OUTSpoken Families is our storytelling training program, designed to increase LGBT parents' comfort and confidence sharing the real stories of their families lives. The program also engages straight allies in learning how best to advocate for their LGBT parent and family friends.

The second event is a Dialogue with LGBT Families of Color through Project Harmony, our initiative for LGBT Families of Color. OUTSpoken Families will take place between 1:00-4:00pm July 20. The Dialogue will happen after an hour snack break, from 5:00-6:30pm. Both are free but we encourage pre-registration at http://www.familyequality.org/OUTSpoken. Food and childcare are provided.

I imagine you might have some LGBT members in your group, and I have no doubt that you have LGBT allies present. I'd love to see some folks from your meetup attend one or both of our events. I'm happy to provide you with resources to get the word out. Feel free to contact me for further information at dustin.kight@familyequality.org or at 617.502.8700 x228.

Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from and see you soon!

Best,
Dustin
