Any suggestions on gear to bring?
She will sit through a whole movie at home ....Don't know about the movies? We are going with our regular playgroup so I think she'll be cool.

I'm better with babies.
Bring your own snacks and buy a junior popcorn if you want.

Make it crystal clear that talking is not allowed.
Encourage a bathroom break or wait to buy the popcorn - it might be a nice distraction for her to stretch her legs and get out (you must block out your obsession with knowing the entire plot).
Stay near an exit in the unlikely case that she throws a tantrum or has a spill or accident.
Extra napkins just in case.
Have her sit in your lap for scary parts. I took my 3.5 to kung fu panda and she sat in my lap nearly the whole time.
Bring a special candy in your SAHD cargo pockets and bust it out when she starts getting restless.
Pick a National Amusements cinema and join the Popcorn club. My daughter got a movie poster for both Kung Fu Panda and Horton just because we were members. It's a nice added bonus.

Ticktock appears to have done this before. But he forgot the duct tape. :-)
What movie are you going to see?
I was wondering what Ticktock thought of Kung Fu Panda. It looks funny, and my kids are going to "surprise" me by taking me to the movie for Father's Day.
And, Chef, I'm sure you know this already, but make sure you all enjoy yourselves. I don't mean to ignore others around you if your daughter has a loudness problem (every kid does, eventually, and when we don't want them to.)
What I mean is: deal with problems if they arise, but enjoy yourself otherwise.

I thought kung fu panda was genuine, funny, and unique. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. It's much more appropriate for boys, unless you have a daughter who is into martial arts and fighting. It was a little too scary for my 3.5 yr old, so beware of that danger. All in all, I don't regret going at all.
My daughter has been to see Ratatouille, Bee Movie, Horton, and Kung Fu Panda. She did great in all of them. I'm not quite sure why I don't take her more often, actually, except for the complication of a new baby daughter being added to the mix in the last year.

How many in the play group? When we brought all the kids to the movies, we would make sure they all went potty right before the show was to start. We would place napkins on their laps and divy-up the large popcorn so everyone has some for themselves. Twizzlers are easy to pass around and can fit in your cargo pants as will juice boxes. We would also get the big pop and ask for small cups and share. Sit right behind them so it is easy to refill pop and popcorn. Get a ton of napkins because someone will spill.

we have been to 2 movies now and she is fine ...look ma no dust tape either
Kung fu panda and Wall-E.....both funny and both worth checking out
