Hello all. My name is Scott and I'm a 1st Shift dad (I left my 9-5 job to work a 2nd Shift position). I spend my days with my 8 month old daughter. I'm hoping to find groups, suggestions, or ideas to help me out. I have found I miss my old job for its challenges and interactions. I'm looking for some adult conversation interaction.

Welcome

Scott,
Welcome to AtHomeDad. Congrats on your choice to stay home. It's a hard job, I think we would all agree, but it is rewarding in ways you can't imagine.

There is a ton of experiance on this board - I've tapped into it myself more than once - and a lot of fun as well. Y'all may need to find a playgroup/dads group/library programs/playspaces/ to have actual adult talks but we are always here to lend an ear.

Good luck!

Be Seeing You.
Jonathan

Glad you found us

Scott,

Glad you found us here. This site has been crucial to me over the last several months. I wish I'd thought to look for such a place when I first began this process nearly 6 years ago. I find useful parenting tips here, as well as ridiculous conversations that crack me up, and links to funny videos and articles that inspire great debates about all sorts of social, political and entertainment topics.

Hope you'll find it as useful as I have. Enjoy1

Hey guys,
I too am new to this group. Checked it out yesterday while I was surfing for a domain name for my own site and apparently this one was taken.

Been stay home dad for over 7 years now and have to admit that it was a bit easier before I had kids, but much less rewarding.

Currently live in North Bend WA (30 miles from Seattle and in the Cascade foothills).

Definitely!

Hey Shortbus,
I bet it was a lot easier being an at-home dad before you had kids!

HeHe... just teasing you. You can expect more fun harassment from time to time, but feel free to dish it out as well. ; )

And, to SkiPro:
Welcome. Now you are working double shifts. You will need us here.

As my wedding photographers were fond of saying to one another..

"You're the man."

"No, you're the man."

"How can I be the man if you're the man?"

You guys are all the man and I love hanging out here.

Don't oppress me, man.
