Chicago Dads

Chicago Dads provides networking opportunities through activities such as "Dad's Night Out", playgroup activities for children, various other outings, and general camaraderie. We function as an informal volunteer association of independent groups and individuals. We believe the involvement of a father in the life of his child is beneficial to the child, and ultimately society as a whole. Most of us have made a conscious choice to be the primary care provider for their children. Some work full-time, part-time or work at-home. Some are retired or are at-home dads. We invite all involved fathers to network with us. As researcher Dr. Kyle Pruett says, "fathers have always parented differently than mothers...and father care is as essential as mother care for your child." For this belief and many others, you're an involved dad. ChicagoDads.com is here to help. This is the place to meet other dads from across the greater Chicagoland metropolitan area.

Casting for Babies

I don't know if this the forum for things like this (and if it's not appropriate, Mike, I apologize), but my agent just sent this out and I thought someone might be interested.  They are a professional, reputable agency (and you can tell them I said so!), so this all above board.  Here's the info:

New stay at home Dad in Chicago

Hello all,

My name is Tim, and my first daughter was born on St. Patrick's Day.  My wife works for a publishing company, and I am in grad school.  So we have mutually decided that I should be the primary at-home caregiver.  I am very happy and excited (and a little nervous) to have the opportunity to spend my daughter's early years with her.  I am looking forward to meeting like-minded and similarly-situated fellows in the area.

Best,

Tim

At-Home Dad in Bank Advertisement

Take a look at the photo that North Community Bank is using on its homepage right now. Is he an at-home dad? Okay, an actor posing as an at-home dad. What do you think?

Fisher Price MP3 player

Does anyone have one?  Bella has one and likes it a lot, however we don't have the disc to change the music on it.  Does anyone have one we could borrow?  A new mp3 is like 50 dollars and there is nothing to download from their website.

thanks

Going back to Cali . . .

Gents,

We're headed back to the warm weather and sunshine tomorrow. It was a pleasure to hang out with you guys again at playgroups and DNOs. My only regret is that we didn't have more time together! I suppose as preschool begins and some families have more than one child, that is inevitable. Please let me know if you're ever in the LA/Pasadena area.

Cheers,

JimD

Weekly Music Class Continued

Ariel3618's picture

I've been taking Talia to a weekly music class at JCYS (Jewish Council for Youth ServicesServices) for about 8 weeks now.  The class is everyone not just Jewish families.  I thought the class was ending but it is not.  Teacher is Susan Salidor and it's a 30 minute basic class.  Lots of basic music with rattles and fun songs.  More for little kids but I think there is one child over one.  The cost is $15 per session.  There's no minimum.  It meets every Tuesday at 11:30.  Talia and I go most weeks (if she's not still napping).  Shoot me an email if you're interested or you can also

Any experience with Skype?

My apologies for an off-topic posting, but I'm considering getting rid of our landline. However, our current cell service doesn't pick up very well in the house, and I was wondering about getting a Skype phone for making calls at home. Do any of you guys have experience using Skype? How is the call quality when you call out to regular phones? And has anyone used a wi-fi phone instead of a computer for Skype?
